The data controller is Marlene Fernandes, operator of Fernandes Cottage (AL 118336), Estrada António de Carvalhal 147 (Antiga Estrada Regional), 9240-103 Ponta Delgada, São Vicente, Madeira, Portugal — reservations@fernandescottage.com.

Fernandes Cottage collects only the personal data needed to answer your enquiry and manage your stay. When you send an availability request we store your name, email, phone (if given), message, dates, party size, chosen house, the page and campaign parameters you arrived from, your browser type, and a hashed (not reversible) form of your IP address used only to prevent abuse.

We process this data to answer your request. It is hosted by our website platform provider and, for sending the confirmation and notification emails, by our transactional email provider.

We process this data on the basis of contract performance and our legitimate interest in replying to you. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with third parties beyond the service providers strictly needed to run the reservation and the stay.

How long we keep your data:

1. Availability requests that don't become a booking: deleted 12 months after the last contact.

2. Confirmed bookings (name, contact, dates, amounts, payment and invoicing records): kept for 10 years from the end of the year of the stay, to meet Portuguese tax and accounting obligations. After the stay we keep only what those obligations require.

3. Guest identification data for the mandatory communication of foreign guests to the Portuguese immigration authority (AIMA): kept for 1 year after departure, as required by Law 23/2007 (art. 15). This data is not collected through this website.

4. Technical anti-spam data (the hashed IP address used to limit repeated requests): kept for no more than 30 days.

5. Emails exchanged with us: kept for the same period as the request or booking they relate to.

You may request access, correction, portability or deletion of your data at any time by writing to reservations@fernandescottage.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority (CNPD).
